The End of This Adventure

Hello everyone!

My internship is all done and I am about to head home from this amazing adventure. I learned SO much about marketing as well as about businesses in Germany and German culture in general. I also expanded my German language skills by a lot. I am so lucky that I was given the chance to do this and I thank everyone who played a part in making it possible for me to go! Colder in Großmarkt!

Hello everyone!

We went to the Großmarkt again but this time, due to a special event that was coming up, we went into this special room that was basically like a giant glass refrigerator that you walk through to pick out flowers. It was freezing but the flowers were so fresh! I posted pictures below!

Funerals

Hello everyone!

Today we have been doing nothing but working very hard to prepare for a funeral for a family of four that was killed in a horrible car accident. Two of the people killed were children so the flowers include a few pieces that are fitting for that. Although it is unbelievably sad, it is amazing to see how everyone in the town comes together when such a tragedy occurs. I posted pictures below.

Office Time

Hello everyone!

I spent some time working in the office this week! It is so funny to me how different things are here. Everything is much more old fashioned. The take orders by stabbing small pieces of paper with the order written on it onto a metal stick and then categorize the papers into a drawer at the end of the day depending on what day the order needs to be completed by. They also have some more technological things that I haven’t seen before either, like a computer printer that prints ribbons for flowers at funerals. I posted pictures below!

We went to Großmarkt this morning again but today we also went to the side that sells fruit and vegetables. It was awesome! Everything was so fresh and delicious. I posted pictures below!

The past couple days I have been working a lot with the actual flowers. I have gotten to help plant things as well at cutting flowers. It has been a blast. I also got to hang up some outdoor decorations. They are very much into rust style here! I posted pictures below!

Exploring the town

Hello everyone!

It has finally started to warm up here and the crazy amount of work at the store has slowed down a little.The past few days I have taken time to explore the town some. It is amazing the history and types of things they have here. I posted pictures below.

Here are some pictures of the buildings in the town as well as a “Wasserbecken” where we went to walk around in water that was 40-45 degrees! It’s supposed to be very good for your circulation but it is soooooo cold!

Merchandising Lesson!

Hello everyone!

They past few days have been very busy! I got to merchandise in some new products the other day and have also tried out some German restaurants. One of the restaurants was located in an old school house. It was very cool! Eating food from here is so much fun and it’s awesome to see parts of the store later on that I know I played a large part in making look that way. I posted pictures below!

Shopping for Flowers!

Hello everyone!

I have had an exciting past few days. I have gotten to help with product purchase in multiple ways. Yesterday, a semi-truck full of flowers came to our store for us to walk through and pick from! It was crazy to walk into the back of a truck and be surrounded by flowers. It was also very cold in there! This morning I got up at 3 AM so I could go to “Großmarkt” or the big market to buy flowers. It was huge and had so many different things to choose from! I have also had many more delicious things to eat. I posted pictures below!

My first day!

Hello everyone!

Today was my first day at my internship so I thought I would share some pictures and tell you how my day was. I started bright and early this morning and spent the day participating in an orientation, a tour of the store and the products, and a discussion with the manager about everything that I will get to help with and learn during my time here. I am very excited to get started!
